HOW MEN CAN GET THE BEST SKIN DURING WINTER

There are a lot of reasons why your skin may be suffering during the winter months. Whether you suffer from Rosacea, dryness or chapped lips- we’ve got the must-know tips. Combat the cold and get your skin back to 100% by following our ultimate guide for winter skincare for men.

Your sleeping pattern isn’t the only thing affected during the harsh winter months, so is your skin. It’s not a particularly skin-friendly season, despite the fact that we might associate the summer with more skin-danger. Along with the switch in your wardrobe, there must also be a slight change in your skincare routine so that you still feel and look your best.

The skin concerns that usually come with the cold, winter air include:
• Tightness and flaking
• Redness
• Dehydration
• Acne or Eczema flare-ups

All of which can be remedied with a few simple additions to your skin care routine.

1. LAYER UP AT NIGHT

During the night, your body goes through a process of restoration and this includes your skin. Make sure your skin is well hydrated overnight so you wake up without dry patches in the morning. I tend to swap to a thicker moisturiser during winter, as they really lock in that moisture. When purchasing, look for a moisturiser that includes the words: intensive, night or repair.

TOP TIP: We recommend adding a small amount of Facial Oil, like Squalane Oil, to your moisturiser to provide you with extra hydration to get you through the night.

2. EXFOLIATE

Due to the cold air, your skin may seem drier and more flaky than usual. You may be inclined to use a physical exfoliant to scrub off the dead skin. THIS IS A BIG NO.

Physical exfoliants, like body scrubs, can actually make the issue worse and leave your face feeling more irritated. Instead, opt for a chemical exfoliant. A chemical exfoliant will get rid of the dead skin and give you a fresh faced look even when the weather seems rather gloomy.

3. DON'T FORGET YOUR LIPS

Your lips can become very sensitive during the winter months, even more so than your skin. Your lips produce less oil than your face and therefore will need extra attention during this time of the year. Make sure to protect and nourish them with our LIP LIFE TO THE FULL Lip Gel. It helps soothe dry, sensitive skin and provide a longer-term moisturisation

LASTLY, YOU STILL NEED SPF!

Despite the shorter days, the sun’s UVA rays (UV-Ageing Rays) are still as high as any other time of the year and therefore can still age your skin. Reduce the damage by making sure you are on top of your SPF application throughout the day. Trust us, your face will thank you later for this tip.
