FEEL COMFORTABLE IN YOUR OWN SKIN: BERNARDO'S STORY

Everyone of us has their own insecurities as a man, this could be linked to your appearance or something deeper. All are valid but hardly spoken about when it comes to the male community.

We wanted to take a dive into the insecurities of our Shakeup models: to identify what they are, if they’re affected more due to being a man and how they combat them, so they feel comfortable in their own skin.

Watch the full interview below to see why they believe taking care of their skin actually boosts their confidence, or continue to scroll to read Bernardo's story.

What challenges have you faced that have made you feel less comfortable in your skin?

"When I hit puberty, I had lots of acne. I still have some scars from it and depending on the lighting it can show. I was a very self-conscious teenager. I think because of that I have always looked after my skin very carefully."

Do you think these challenges are enhanced because you are a man?

"I think at the end of the day, everyone has confidence issues. Doesn't matter if you're a man or woman, whoever you are."

What makes you feel comfortable in your own skin?

"I have this exercise every morning when I wake up, I list things that I'm grateful for. I think gratitude is the first step to channel that energy and start the day. I look myself in the mirror and say, “you look good, you had a very nice night sleep and you're ready for the challenges of the day.” If you're happy with yourself and your choices, then you see yourself in a different light. "

To end, in the words of Bernardo- “Be grateful for who you are and what you have accomplished, (doesn’t matter where you are in life) …then you start to feel good about yourself and happy in your own skin.”
