FEEL COMFORTABLE IN YOUR OWN SKIN: JAMES' STORY

Everyone of us has their own insecurities as a man, this could be linked to your appearance or something deeper. All are valid but hardly spoken about when it comes to the male community.

We wanted to take a dive into the insecurities of our Shakeup models: to identify what they are, if they’re affected more due to being a man and how they combat them, so they feel comfortable in their own skin.

Watch the full interview below to see why they believe taking care of their skin actually boosts their confidence, or continue to scroll to read James' story.

What challenges have you faced that have made you feel less comfortable in your skin?

"When I was younger, going through spot outbreaks would be really frustrating. Even though people didn't bring it up, I'd still be self-conscious and always think about it. I'll always get spots but because I understand my skin a bit better, I now get them less frequently."

Do you think these challenges are enhanced because you are a man?

"It can be difficult as well for men, especially with eczema or massive outbreaks. I don't really talk about it with friends much because it's not really something a lot of people are comfortable with talking about to be honest, unless you bring it up."

What makes you feel comfortable in your own skin?

"I'd say consistent exercise, taking care of my hair, (…a nice fresh haircut makes you a lot more confident) and then skincare obviously. Probably those things to be honest, just looking fresh."
