4 LIFE-CHANGING TIPS FOR MEN WITH ROSACEA, BY MEN WITH ROSACEA.

We've put together a guide from real men with Rosacea: their stories, their trials, their tips.

When it comes to Rosacea, you'll find every case is different and what works for you may not work as well for someone else. However, as men, we can all agree that we don't want expensive fixes or over complicated solutions.

  1. Know your skincare ingredients- Jack
  2. Minimise redness with a BB Tinted Moisturiser- Chris
  3. Build a simple skincare routine- Jake
  4. Try using Azelaic Acid regularly- Robert

JACK

Suffers with very sensitive skin and redness to the face, especially on the cheeks and under the eyes.

"My skin's all over the place, sometimes it's oily then it can also be really dry. It doesn’t help that I never really used to look after my skin or wore sun protection, so that’s probably the cause of the redness and soreness. As you can see in the picture, my face looks normal but the redness does bother me, especially underneath my eyes! It’s more red under my left than it is the right."

TOP TIP: "I've only recently starting looking after my skin and I have been using Hyaluronic Acid skincare products which has helped my with keeping my skin feeling healthy and hydrated! I recently brought a vibrating jade skin roller which helps penetrate my skin with the hyaluronic oils I use."

CHRIS

Suffers with red flare-ups and dryness.

"I have rosacea and when my face flairs up its a real mess. People would make comments about it and I found it embarrassing. My skin needs hydration all day. I’m outside a lot and my face begins to feel dry and tight. "

TOP TIP: "I started looking for ways to reduce the redness about 18 months ago. My daughter mentioned using Shakeup's BB Tinted Moisturiser. Using the cream not only helped make the redness and spots less obvious but it also helped decrease the rosacea itself. The difference is noticeable."

Jake

Suffers with red patches and acne-like breakouts.

“I started getting rosacea in my teenage years and that was also when I started having break outs and acne so my skin was just a mess. I just thought I had really bad acne but later on I realised it wasn’t all acne in fact my acne cleared up quite quickly, but the redness persisted. I had red patches here and there on the cheeks and around the base of my nose as well."

TOP TIP: "I tried different types of rosacea treatments, lotions and potions; I even had a laser treatment. A simple skin care routine has really helped to finally calm down my skin a lot. With my rosacea, the redness can cover with a bit of BB cream or sheer to medium coverage products do the trick."

ROBERT

Suffers with sensitive skin and eczema.

"I have very fair and sensitive skin in general. Having had eczema as a child, that has continued throughout my adult life in some form or another. It seems to go through good and bad phases, with some foods, drinks and products causing irritation to it. Over the years I have tried all kinds of creams, lotions and potions to fix problems I've been having at the time but have not always been successful."

TOP TIP: I have been using Azelaic Acid regularly. For me, it helps reduce any redness. I started off using The Ordinary one, and now I use a prescribed one which is 20% Azelaic Acid, which is stronger than anything you can buy off the shelf.
