HOW YOUR ACNE CAN BE PREVENTED AND CONTROLLED AS A MALE TEEN

As a Teenager, I struggled relentlessly with acne, to the point where I would often feel reluctant to leave the house.

We all go through the obvious household solutions: Sudocrem, Soaps and various Scrubs. Although it's a common issue as a Teen, there are plenty of tips you can try to clear up your skin. Read on to find your perfect remedy...

Acne is a skin condition that shows up as different types of bumps: blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, or cysts.

Our Product Development Team have spent hours researching to create the simplest guide to help you get through your acne. It will likely take at least six to eight weeks before you start to notice a change in your skin... and a full response may take 12 weeks!

1. USE CHEMICAL EXFOLIANTS

Despite the 'Chemical' name sounding a little off-putting, this type of exfoliant is more efficient at getting rid of those dead skin cells. Using a chemical exfoliant can help deeply cleanse and unclog your pores which clears breakouts as well as helping the overall health of your skin.

TOP TIP: Invest in a AHA Exfoliant. You should only use this 2-3 times a week as over exfoliating will irritate the skin more than benefit it.

2. SIMPLIFY YOUR SKIN ROUTINE

Acne prone skin can come with sensivtity and irritation so adopting a simple routine will reduce those awful flare-ups.
Here is an easy routine we suggest trying:
– Cleanser
– Serum
– Moisturiser
– SPF (only for morning routine)

Staying consistent with these four steps will help your skin feel and look so much healthier.

WE THINK YOU'D LOVE:

3. ALWAYS WASH AFTER EXERCISE

Sweat builds on the surface of your skin when you exercise, which if left there can cause clogged pores and make your acne so much worse than it needs to be. Clogged pores can appear all over your body not just your face, some people experience spots on their back and arms. Therefore, you want to make sure that you are washing your entire body, if you can, straight after exercising.

As teenagers, it's very common to work in a place that involves greasy food, oil and so on. This can also clog your pores, especially if you're around such substances for a long period of time. Make sure you don't touch your face and clean your hands after handling greasy things is really important!

4. CLEAN YOUR SMARTPHONE

If you're anything like us, you're probably on your phone an awful lot (...more than you'd like to admit). Bacteria on your phone builds up when you make a phone call, the dirt then transfers from your phone onto your skin. Not a nice thought, is it?

Using a Phone Sanitizer and a Microfiber Cloth on your phone will keep it clean and minimise the risk of spots appearing being produced on your face. Even if your phone looks clean, chances are it will still have bacteria that you can’t see.
